abstract art
Who am I?
I’m an abstract artist and member of the British Psychological Society. I was born in Iraq during the height of the Gulf War and lived in Basra until the age of seven, before moving with my family to beautiful Greece where I grew up. I then spent 6 years in the exciting city of London and have recently moved to Dubai which has now become my new home.
For me, life is a journey that constantly challenges us to evolve beyond the boundaries of the ego. I aim to express this authentic transformation through my deep-rooted passion for art. Life is not perfect, we are not perfect, and so art isn’t about perfection. It's about giving it a meaning that makes perfect sense to us… at least where we stand momentarily on our journey.
What I do?
Bespoke paintings
I create customised original paintings that are purposefully designed for you. Clients usually leave with more than just a painting. They gain an experience of tapping in to self-discovery (if they wish to). My bespoke pieces are never replicated through prints and come with a personal guarantee that no other wall in the world will showcase a replica.
Whether you’re an individual, a couple, a family, an organisation or someone looking for a unique gift for a loved one, your story and thoughts are the source of my inspiration. I use approaches adopted from my background in Psychology to gain a deeper insight into your desired painting. You'll have the option of getting involved in the creative process. Non-bespoke paintings
Aside from my bespoke offering, I also create a variety of non-bespoke paintings. Fuelled by curiosity and an eagerness to serve in a meaningful way, I combine my knowledge in psychology and art to create abstract paintings influenced by transpersonal psychological concepts that portray the wisdom and depth of human psychology.
I begin by conceptualising a broad outline of the image in my mind but ultimately I have to surrender and allow the painting to take the lead, as my role becomes one of a conduit rather than creator. When this happens, I instinctively know every colour, every brush stroke, making the final painting carry an energy that even those who know nothing about art can feel.
These are available for purchase as a one-off original or as a limited edition print. Simply choose your favourite piece and bring your walls to life!
Why I do it?
-
I enjoy the concept of not following nor breaking rules, simply existing in a state where an act is not judged by me as the observer. It's that feeling of transcendence that we rarely get to experience in our fast-paced society.
-
Creating personal, meaningful paintings that reflect your personal past, present or future vision and serve to evoke emotions each time you look at them. I believe that the only thing we can control in life is how we choose to feel - a choice that no person or external circumstance can dictate. How we feel ultimately shapes your reality.
-
The intention behind my paintings is either to teach, remind or invite people on a journey of self-reflection. Contributing to another's self-elevation is rewarding to me as nothing adds more value than helping others in any shape or form.
How I got here?
The culture clash I experienced during my teenage years pushed me to tap into the world of self-development. I felt as though I had to wear a different mask in different settings which made me beg the question... what if I were unmasked, what would my authentic self look like? It's a simple question that made me embark on a journey of self-discovery. Art helped me explore and experiment with no limitations or restrictions. This feeling of freedom made art develop from a hobby into a passion and eventually a calling. This was not always the plan. During the time that I was completing my BA and MSc in Psychology, I received numerous requests from family, friends and various organisations to paint for their walls. Through word of mouth, my paintings began being noticed by many. The amount of interest and feedback I received motivated me to evolve my pass-time into the central focus of my being. I am immensely grateful and proud to say that every client’s reaction so far has been that of sheer joy and appreciation. This is the reason I create artwork.
What’s my style?
Unlike most artists, I don't follow a specific style. My reasons for this:
-
My abstract work is influenced by my psyche and since my psyche is an ever-evolving process, my work evolves accordingly. Limiting my art to one style would distance me from authentic creativity.
-
I find it meditative when I allow unprecedented creativity guide my hands. Painting from my mind requires conscious thinking and from experience, my work speaks to people more when I pause my mind and let intuitive brush strokes emerge. It’s as though I need to get out of the way and allow that dream consciousness to flow and direct me.
-
A non-static style ensures that my creativity remains malleable, enabling me to adapt to each client’s bespoke requirements.
-
I don't get bored!
So why buy paintings from me?
1. Customised original paintings, tailored to your style and meaningful to you personally
It’s great to own an original painting that you can relate to but what’s even greater is participating in creating it. There’s something special about owning a personalised painting that has meaningful symbolism to you. They offer a deeper connection. The prospect of creating a customised painting for someone or an organisation to embrace and pass down for generations is an honour for me as an artist. I don't make prints available for bespoke paintings – each of the bespoke paintings that I create is and will continue to remain unique and exclusive to its owner.
2. Deal with me directly, not a faceless gallery service
My service is personal and personable - you’ll receive much more than a sales invoice and a business card. I believe in an honest, soulful and relationship-centric service in an otherwise fast-paced and transactional world. Each client who commissions me can contact me directly. Art is for everyone and access to the artist should go with that.
3. Psychological concepts
My paintings are inspired by transpersonal psychological concepts that honour the existence of struggle in life but also inspires a will to process it. Life is not struggle-free. Our responsibility is to process that struggle instead of avoiding it. My work is relatable to those who believe in the power of conscious evolution.
4. I'm always working on something unique
The next piece or collection I create may be entirely different from the previous one. Keep visiting my gallery for a different experience.
5. I only use high-quality materials
When you buy art, you make an investment. For anyone buying my paintings, I can guarantee that your investment will not be short-lived. I never compromise on the quality of the materials I use.
6. Money-back guarantee
If you aren’t satisfied with the final piece, you will receive a full refund. I’d hate to keep a painting that I don’t like looking at, so why would I put you in that position?
7. Restoration service
In the event that your painting is damaged (for example, in the course of a house-move), you can always contact me and I’ll try my best to restore it.
8. Help me help others in need
10% of my profits go to families struggling in post-conflict societies. Through my network, I’m fortunate enough to donate directly to families that do not otherwise have the means or access to basic necessities such as food, clothing or sanitation.
