Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pay?

You can make your payment via BACS bank transfer (details will be provided once you confirm your order).

Monthly payment plans are also available to give more people the opportunity of owning an original painting. Making original artwork accessible to more people is important to me as there is nothing greater than owning an original piece, no matter how high quality the prints are.

Do you have a returns policy?

Yes. If you are not happy with your painting, please inform me via email within 3 days of receiving the painting.  You will then need to send back the artwork in the original packaging to my address. A full refund of your invoice total will be issued upon receiving the packaged painting.

Please note that in such cases, the return shipping costs will have to be paid by the buyer. The return shipping logistics will also need to be arranged by the buyer.

What if I'm not fully happy with my commissioned piece?

I will share photos and video of your piece when it’s completed. If you are not fully satisfied with your piece, your deposit will be fully refunded to you, provided that I have not yet shipped the painting. If the piece has already been shipped to your address, you’ll have to cover the cost of shipping it back to me (and it must be returned in the same condition as it was when posted).

If there are final touches that can be made on the piece to meet certain criteria, I will do my best but in some in cases I may advise that the painting is better left as is (in which case it will find another home later).

What if my painting gets lost or damaged on its way?

If any damage or loss occurs during shipment, you will receive a full refund.

Make sure to inspect the package and painting as soon as possible after receiving it. If you see any issues please take photos and contact me immediately at art@israatalal.com. Any painting held beyond 48 hours from the time of delivery will be deemed  to have arrived safely.

Can I arrange for a pick up if I live in London?

Yes you can. If you live close to central London, I can arrange to deliver your painting myself as I believe in personal service.

In light of the current global pandemic, pick-ups and drop-offs will be arranged in compliance with with COVID-safe practices.

How long is the delivery period after I place my order?

Non-bespoke Paintings

I will prepare your painting for shipment within 7 business days and it should arrive within 5 days of shipping for UK shipments and within 5-14 days (depending on the region) for overseas shipments (this does not account for unexpected customs delays). On average you should receive your painting within 1-3 weeks after making your purchase. An expedited service is available upon request.

Bespoke Paintings

Bespoke paintings usually take approximately up to two months to complete, depending on size and criteria. Shipping times will be in accordance with the above. On average, you should receive your painting around 8-10 weeks after making your purchase. An expedited service is available upon request.

How will you package my painting for shipping?

Your painting will be carefully packaged using appropriate insulation, ensuring its safety during shipment. There are 3 ways of packaging, depending on preference and size of the painting:

Tube

When shipping outside of the UK, it is recommended that paintings are removed from their wooden stretcher bars (the wooden frame inside the back of the painting which holds the canvas). This reduces your overseas shipping costs significantly. The painting will then be rolled using acid-free paper to keep the painted surface protected and shipped inside a safe shipping tube. Any paperwork such as the invoice and certificate of authenticity is also rolled inside the tube. The tube will be sealed on both ends with strong packing tape to secure the content. Once it arrives, you can have it easily stretched again by an art framer in your area. Typically this will be less costly than shipping a stretched canvas.

Shipping Boxes

If you prefer to have your canvas painting shipped “stretched” (remaining on the stretcher bars), additional costs will be incurred. Strong corrugated cardboard boxes are used. The box is few inches larger than the painting on all sides, allowing for optimum amount of insulation and protection to be placed between the canvas and the box.

Crates

In case a crate is the preferred packaging option, a crating company will be used to build a custom crate (a wooden box) and pack your painting with the same level of care for safety.

You can always inquire with a local framing shop in your area before deciding which shipping option you prefer. When you ask a framer for a quote, please ensure that you provide exact measurements of the canvas painting as indicated on the product page. So as an example, if the painting is 40” x 58” x 2.5” make sure to give all three numbers, as the depth (2.5”) is also important since the framer needs to build bars thick enough for this depth.

How do you ship my painting?

Reputable commercial couriers are used. Tracking details will be provided to you as soon as the artwork is sent.

How are shipping costs calculated?

Shipping rates are based on the dimension of packaging (which is determined by the size of the painting you purchase) and where you live (country). I will confirm the shipping charge that will be added to your total amount once you confirm your location and desired artwork.

What material do you use to create your art?

I predominantly use high quality, professional acrylic paint on stretched canvas. All materials used are of high professional quality. I often apply texture through different mediums, ranging from acrylic gels to any inspiring material found in nature e.g. sand! The canvases I use are approximately 1.5” deep edge which is the “gallery style” edge that has enough thickness on the side, allowing paintings to be hung without any frame for a contemporary look. I continue the painting on the edges, which gives it a great view from the sides.

Do you provide hanging hardware when you ship my canvas painting?

Yes, gallery wire on the back of the canvas will be installed and I will also include a nail and hook in the package that you can easily hammer into the wall to hang the painting. This hardware is typically small in size and yet will be strong enough to hold the painting you selected. The paintings are much lighter than they look due to the lightness of canvas material.

Will I be able to frame my purchased painting?

Yes, you can have it framed by an art framer even though a frame is not necessary at all as the canvas looks great on the wall with the 1.5 inch deep edge. Type of frame depends on personal taste. I recommend a “floater frame” which is a modern framing style for gallery canvas. You can always discuss this with your framer.

When confirming your order, please let me know if you intend on framing the painting so that I do not install the hanging wire in the back.

Can you recreate a painting that you did in the past?

The short answer is yes and no.

I do not recreate paintings, however, I can create a new painting with a similar "feel". This is provided that the past reference painting is still within my current creative style (creative processes and styles evolve over time and often it is hard for me to create something very similar to a painting I did 4 years ago as an example).

Limited edition prints are available for non-bespoke paintings. As for the bespoke pieces, these cannot be replicated through prints as they come with a guarantee that no other wall will carry a replica.
